1 Minutes from HERAFitter User's meeting 24.02.2014 2 ================================================= 3 4 1)HERAFitter Status update (R. Placakyte) 5 6 -> we collect feedback from the users on 7 their experience in working with the first 8 stable release (installation/manual) 9 10 -> new ongoing developments: 11 - improved drawing tools 12 - improved handling of uncertainties (covariance matrix for correlations) 13 - inteface to lhapdf6 is implemented 14 - efforts to allow for QED+PDFs (see R. Sadykov's talk) 15 - efforts towards better QCD interpretation of lead W/Z measurements (see B. Clark) 16 A list of other ongoing developments is given, further ideas are welcome. 17 18 -> Active participation at the conferences 19 -> next meeting planned for end of March/beginning of April, a doodle will be set. 20 21 22 2) QED PDFs and implementation in the HERAFitter (R. Sadykov) 23 24 -> implemented photon parametrisation style 25 (the index to be improved for coherency) 26 -> adjusted QCD sum rules (photon contribution <1%) 27 -> QCDNUM+QED alpha version fails to work with HERAFitter, 28 (stand alone works), requires checks - could be issue with the 29 grid definition... (conveners agreed to check it as well). 30 The new QCDNUM (alpha) version has all the standard features 31 available, apart from bakward evolution and 2 interpolation 32 functions, which should not affect the standard fits in 33 HERAFitter. New version of QCDNUM expected by DIS. 34 35 -> Renat also has started to work on building APPLGRIDS interfaced 36 to SANC generator to be used for LO cross section of gamma gamma into dilepton process. 37 38 3) Vector boson production with lead beams (B. Clark) 39 40 Ben has presented a study on differences between free proton and 41 lead protons. Large differences are expected in the W+ distribution 42 (up to 20%) due to different shape of the u-quark in lead vs proton 43 PDFs, Z distribution shows some differences especially in the 44 larger rapidity region. There is available Z distribution from 45 ATLAS which has used proton PDFs and they found good agreement 46 confirmed by Ben - however ATLAS measurements were statistically limited 47 and future measurements are expected to better address these issues. 48 49 50 4) Mathematica interface to LHAPDF6 (E. Godat) 51 52 Eric has presented a Mathematica interface to LHAPDF6. 53 It can read and display PDFs the new format LHAPDF6 interface. 54 In addition the package can perform ratio plots and more 55 interesting for HERAFitter is that it provides sum rules check 56 and can read HERAFitter LHAgrids product. 57 For tests, users are encouraged to contact Eric: email@example.com.
