1 ========== minutes of HERAFitter User's meeting 10.12.2013 ============= 2 Status: 3 the first HERAFitter-1.0.0 stable released is announced ! 4 - access via usual public web page (theory files donloadable separately) 5 - includes updated README and (new) INSTALLATION file, release notes 6 (manual is being updated and will be added later) 7 - stable release includes many improvements: restructuring/cleaning up the 8 code, several updates to existing external packages (HATHOR, uPDF), 9 simplified interface to parametrisation style, enabled LO PDFs, 10 improvements for data to theory quantitative comparisons (chi2), 11 treatment of experimental uncertainties, significantly improved drawing 12 tools, fit lead PDFs, generic tool for global minima solution, new 13 interface to APPLGRIDs including possibility to use CKM values from 14 HERAFitter package or grids, also exclusion of specific data bins 15 from the fit. 16 17 The HERAFitter paper initially planned with the stable release is being 18 iterated with SG and planned early next year. 19 20 HERAFitter-1.0.0 will be presented in the PDF4LHC on 13.12.2013 and 21 in the "HEP for the LHC Era" conference (16-20.12.2013 by P. Laycock). 22 23 Doodle for next User's meeting in planned Jan-Feb (doodle to be sent) 24 25 Feedback: suggestion to publish manual as well -useful for reference 26 but also brings confusion with citation (paper should be the main citation). 27 28 29 --->>> aMC@NLO presentation by Juan Rojo: 30 aMCatNLO - theory predictions with NLO QCD accuracy for arbitrary 31 processes in the SM and their matching to Parton Showers. 32 First full release expected this week - important for HERAFitter as will 33 be interfaced to Applgrid and therefore can be directly used. 34 35 36 --->>> APFEL presentation by Stefano Carrazza: 37 release 2.0.0 presented (detailed description presented in the previous 38 User's meeting): contains new DIS module for CC and NC with FFNS, ZM 39 and FONLL schemes, interface to APFEL evolution (verified against HOPET), 40 new graphical user interface (improved drawing and comparison of PDF options), 41 an interactive console. 42 In plans: implementation of the MSbar masses for the DIS observables, 43 interface to Applgrid, inclusion of the PDF evolution in the pre-existing 44 APPLgrid grids. 45 Profit for HERAFitter - easy access of FONLL schemes - CPU consumption 46 could be an issue (possibility to use k-factors? to be checked). 47 48 49 --->>> Lead PDFs and Errors presentation by Ben Clark 50 nCTEQ error sets created (compared to standard CT10 PDFs) which also 51 allows to calculate parton-parton luminosities. 52 The developed Mathematica packages allows to manipulate PDF/nPDF sets 53 (to become public), will include interface to LHAPDF6 (experience 54 could be useful for HERAFitter).
